AURA-EE test the first rural smart grid in France
The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Énergie Environnement (AURA-EE) is one of the partners of the SMAP project.
SMAP (SMArt grids in natural parks) is the first smart grid to be tested in a rural area in France with citizens (producers/consumers) and it will study the integration and smart management of local photovoltaic power generation on the village electricity grid.
The project was launched in the village of Les Haies in the Rhône department in France in 2015 and will be finished by 2018. Smart grids are not reserved for urban areas, as demonstrated by SMAP, the first smart grid demonstrator to be developed in a French village.
