Last chance to apply as a mentee for PROSPECT: dealine on the 30th September
The fourth and last PROSPECT learning cycle on innovative financing for local energy and climate projects will start this November 2019, following an ongoing 2-step recruitment process of mentors and mentees.
The first step, calling for mentors during the summer, resulted in the applications of more than 20 cities, regions and energy agencies (local and regional), from 13 different EU countries.
For this last learning cycle, the project team is very happy to welcome the application of the city of Paris, who will share its 4-year experience in implementing and managing green bonds for climate and social projects, as well as the application of the smaller (but Olympic!) French city of Albertville, which has launched an initial 130k€ interacting fund earlier this year, largely inspired by the long experience of Stuttgart in Germany.
Last but not least, other innovative financing mechanisms like energy savings certificates, local economic and fiscal incentives, third-party financing (including the negotiation and partnership aspects), and different kinds of projects pooling and of public and private funds bundling, will be presented by experienced mentors and covering the 5 PROSPECT thematic modules:
- Private buildings: covers buildings owned, managed or controlled by private individuals or corporations. This refers primarily to the tertiary sector (services), such as private companies, banks, commercial, and retail activities, hospitals, etc. and residential buildings, including social housing.
- Public buildings: covers buildings and facilities owned, managed or controlled by public authorities. Facilities refer to energy-consuming entities that are not buildings, such as wastewater treatment plants.
- Public lighting: covers the provision of public lighting (e.g. street lighting and traffic lights) owned or operated by public authorities. Non-municipal public lighting is under private buildings.
- Transport (including e-mobility and traffic calming): covers the provision of and management of mass transit systems by public authorities, as well as private transport.
- Cross-sectoral (mainly the production of renewables or multi-sectoral projects): covers all other cross-sectoral energy efficiency investments, for example those related to climate change adaptation or to the production of renewable energy, such as local electricity and heat/cold production to satisfy consumption needs; as well as those interventions falling under two or more thematic areas.
