Outcomes of the C-track 50 Information Energy Day

On September 19, 2019, an Energy Information Day was co-organized by the European project C-Track 50 and the Office of the Covenant of Mayors, with the participation of over 25 Greek municipalities.

As part of the conference, a Signature Ceremony for the Covenant of Mayors was held for 29 municipalities¹ that wished to make commitments towards 2030, or to confirm their existing commitment to the same goals. The workshop continued with presentations on long-term energy planning by Ms Papadopoulou and the C-Track 50 project, climate change adaptation by Ms Tzanakaki and CRES, examples of best practices by Ms Touloura and the Municipality of Farsala and the Mayor Loutraki-Perachora-Agia Theodoroi. The first module ended with the presentation of Mr Georgia from the Sustainable City Network.

The second section presented innovative financing tools and programs. In particular, Ms Constantinopoulou from the NSRF Executive Structure summarized the funding opportunities of the current programming period, giving some information for the next period. Mr Varlamitis, Chairman of the Deposits and Loans Fund, presented the fund’s funding programs available to local governments, focusing on pumping stations, street lighting, and buildings. Ms Bossio presented the new EU City Facility program, which will finance the maturing of investment projects by cities. Mr Iliopoulos from the EFTA summarized the existing regulatory framework for the implementation of energy saving and RES actions in Municipalities. Finally, Mr Marinakis from the University of Piraeus presented innovative financial tools for municipalities and opportunities for exchange of know-how, under the instruction and learning sessions offered by the PROSPECT project in participating municipalities.
