Pig Farm reduces costs through energy efficiency upgrades – CKEA
The Tybroughney Pig Farm houses 6,300 pigs and operates on a 24/7, 365 days per year basis. After conducting an energy audit, the Carlow Kilkenny Energy Agency identified energy efficiency measures. Motor and lighting upgrades were made, allowing the Farm to save 6% ot the total energy costs. Amongst others, the T8 lamps were replaced by T5 lamps, which burn brighter, have longer operational lifespan and reduce the lighting expenses by up to 78%. An efficient motor control was also installed, the Variable Speed Drive.
