Tipperary County Council recognized at National Energy Awards

On Thursday November 20th, Tipperary County Council won the Public Sector award at the National Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland awards ceremony. The council was awarded for being leader with regard to energy management performance and in its uptake of renewable energy solutions.

Mayor of Tipperary County Council, Cllr. Seamus Hanafin and Director Matt Shortt accepted the award at a gala ceremony in Kilmainham Gaol. Cllr Hanafin, said “It is an outstanding achievement for Tipperary County Council in partnership with Tipperary Energy Agency to get national recognition for its commitment to sustainable energy. There are huge benefits for the council as well as the people of Tipperary : reduced costs, providing retrofits for our own buildings and houses and reduced carbon footprint. This award is a credit to everyone involved for all their hard work.” Chief Executive Joe MacGrath also thanked his staff and the Tipperary Energy Agency for their commitment and work in securing this prestigious award for Tipperary.
